Exuberance (2010)

What would the Hot Club of France sound like playing Alice in Chains songs? Inspired by the hot swing of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, this violin-guitar-bass trio captures the essence of swing and applies it to classic rock. EXUBERANCE gives Steely Dan, Radiohead, and Alice in chains the Gypsy jazz treatment. Original songs mixing jazz, rock, and funk share the stage with covers of Chopin, Django, and rock and pop songs spanning 40 years.

HEADSPACE (2007)

Hot on the heals of their acclaimed CD, Live Wires, Headspace brings their live energy into the studio. Vocal rock anthems like "New Material, "Old Ghosts", and "Today is Tomorrow", shout alongside four truly ripping instrumentals. From the bluegrass punk of "Gutterpunk Blues", to the psychedelic roller coaster ride of "Mental Floss", and the bigger and louder sequel to the Heavy Metal Hora "Heavy Shtettle II". Headspace also features a unique cover of The Police track "Driven to Tears". This CD is filled with memorable hooks alongside the death-defying instrumental jams the group has built its reputation on.

Review by www.blogspot.com

“An interesting and spirited journey into outrageous creativity, this CD is highly recommended for anyone with an adventurous ear, including fans of fusion, progressive rock, the Police, the Kronos Quartet's pop experiments and collaborations, and fiery fiddling.”

Review by www.cashboxmagazine.com

“...Deninzon shows how he has earned the nickname the ‘Jimi Hendrix of violin’ as he tears threw a distortion heavy solo that points more in the direction of Guns N Roses’ Slash than Yo Yo Ma. The other effected instruments give Head Space a great push in the psychedelic direction, adding to the long list of the bands genre leaping abilities. Head Space is an exciting experience, taking the listener by the hand and whipping them around an Alice In Wonderland like journey of musical exploration.”

Review by Justin Scro – www.crashbox.com

“...Stratospheerius make music that teeters on becoming its own genre. Part Dave Matthews Band, part modern rock and part classical, Head Space bounces from sound to sound with total ease. The violin playing by veteran Joe Deninzon opens up the dynamic of of Stratospheerius with total urgency and takes what may at first seem like normal rock songs to an entirely higher level.”

LIVE WIRES (2004)

This CD was recorded live on the road during the course of two years, and features scorching guitar work by Alex Skolnick (www.alexskolnick.com) and Jake Ezra (www.vandavis.com), Israeli bass assaults by Ron Baron, thunderous drums by the queen of the beats herself, Lucianna Padmore, and Deninzon on electric and acoustic violin, and vocals. Live Wires is Stratospheerius raw, live, and in your face! Highlights of the CD include their funky version of the Simpson's Theme, a Frank Zappa classic called "Magic Fingers", as well as a song Deninzon co-wrote with Skolnick celebrating their heavy metal and Jewish roots, entitled "Heavy Shtettle".

Review by Mark E.Waterbury – www.musicmorsels.com

“Violinist/singer Joe Deninzon presents us with this gift of hot songs. Think a bit of Zappa, the Dixie Dreggs or Bloues Traveler, with the violin being the focal point. Joe's talents are flat out phenominal, and the progressive rock tapestry he weaves around himself is carried to perfection by his amazing band!”

ADVENTURES OF STRATOSPHEERIUS (2002)

The album is Joe's long-awaited follow-up to his debut, Electric Blue. This time around, the group features Joe Deninzon on six-string electric violin and vocals, Scott Chasolen on Fender Rhodes and Moog, Grisha Alexiev on drums, Rufus Philpot on bass, DJ Big Wiz on turntables, and legendary guitarist Alex Skolnick (www.alexskolnick.com) who has worked with Testament and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. They mix the avant garde jazz/rock sound of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, the pop sensibilities of the Dave Matthews Band, and Chili Peppers-style funk, to create a Stratospheeric musical experience.

Review by Matt Howarth – www.soniccuriosity.com

“Fleshing out the Stratospheerius sound are: Out-of-this-world strings, sultry guitar, rumbling basslines, frantic drumming, and celebratory vocals that enunciate lyrical outlines of life. The songs are gripping and energetic. Insistent melodies are made compelling by the violin passion. Fevered solos are cradled between lyrical passages that tremble with breakout rock stamina. A Bayou flavor lurks in several tracks, creating a strange fusion of bluesy funk and progressive tendencies. The result is goodtime music that will get you dancing.”

ELECTRIC/BLUE (1998)

Electric Blue was Joe's debut CD, released in 1998 on Wilbert's Blues Records. Recorded in Cleveland with some legendary local talent, the music takes its influences from 60's/70's era Miles Davis, Jean-Luc Ponty, Frank Zappa, and Jeff Beck.

From the abstract expressionism of "Acid Rabbits" and " Dark Frontier," to the hard-hitting wah wah fiddlefusion of "Shock Therapy" and "Bluzak", to the mellow flavors of "Oasis" and "Evening Nap", Deninzon explores the innovative possibilities of the electric violin and takes the listener on a journey spanning many worlds.

Review by All Music Guide

“...While the Russian-born improviser has studied the history of jazz violin extensively, he refuses to be shackled by that history. Deninzon can be lyrical and charming, or he can be a forceful, in-your-face player who brings elements of hard rock guitar to the electric violin.”
